Details Tab – Categories Module

The Details tab displays key information about the category.

The following fields are displayed on the Category Details page:

  • ID / Name — Identifying fields for the category. The Category ID field is used to uniquely identify the category. The Name field is typically more descriptive and does not need to be unique. The Category ID and Name fields are both displayed in the Category List.

  • Parent ID — To allow for easier identification in both the list and search, categories can be tied as children to a another category. The Category List is organized by parent. At the top of the list, all records not associated with a specific Parent ID are listed under the No Parent Category group.

  • Module — The module for the category. Listing a module for this category ensures that the category is only available in Category lookups for that module. The category will not be displayed in Category lookups in other modules.

If no value is entered in this field, the category will be displayed in the Category lookup for all modules.

  • Repair Center — The repair center with which this category is associated.

  • Comments — A field that can be used to enter additional comments about the record. The View / Edit Text button at the top-right of the field can be used to open a larger editing area.

  • Status — A check box used to specify if the category is active. Clear the check box if the category is inactive to ensure that it does not show up in Category lookups or filters. The category continues to be available in the Category module list.
